General resources for
students and teachers of Latin American history: Published, English-Language Primary Sources for Colonial Latin America [pdf] This partially annotated list encompasses colonial-era sources for Mexico/Mesoamerica, the Caribbean, the Andes, and Brazil/Amazonia, as well as sources that are more general in scope. I have used many of them successfully in the undergraduate classroom and could recommend them to other teachers for inclusion in course readers for survey courses as well as more specialized seminars. The list is also a resource for students pursuing their own research projects. Links to online primary source collections for both the colonial and modern periods, and to relevant databases and scholarly forums. A
short list of engaging, sometimes controversial, journalistic accounts
of the Amazon that would work well in undergraduate survey courses in Latin American history.
